One of the original chalets in the area, Les Mazots has an ambience which is immediately welcoming. There is wood panelling throughout the chalet and most of the rooms are south facing with tremendous views across the valley to Mont Blanc and Glacier des Bossons.

The elegant sitting/dining room, with the fireplace as the central focus, has period furniture and comfortable chairs. French windows open into the garden, from which the pink mountain aura can be enjoyed as the sun sets on the Chamonix needles. Comfortable bedrooms complete the atmosphere of traditional Savoyarde charm and style. There is a twin room on the ground floor with ensuite shower room, on the first floor there is a double with ensuite bathroom, a twin with ensuite shower room, a double with a balcony and a twin with a basin and balcony. There is also a single with a basin and a separate bathroom. On the second floor there is a twin and a single both with basins and a separate bathroom.

Les Mazots successfully accommodates individuals, couples, large or corporate groups and is a five minute walk from the centre of Chamonix.

The History
Les Mazots was built in 1939 by the Clé­¥ncon family, who were silk manufacturers...
Very few chalets had been built in the area, so they were able to choose a prime south-facing site, with wonderful views of Mont Blanc. In the archives there is the final invoice to build the chalet for an amount of 252714.10FF. The surrounding area was farmland, with sheep and goats grazing in the summer. The family witnessed the building of the top section of the Brévant telepherique. Before then they had enjoyed that side of the mountain, only by ski touring up before skiing an untracked path home. Colette, the eldest daughter and wonderful artist, designed posters promoting the lift. Although still a small farming town, Chamonix had hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924, so became a grand destination, with regular ?society? and masked balls in the Majestic & other gorgeous buildings, which have been renovated over recent years.

Keeping the chalet warm was a major feat, before the days of central heating. The other daughter, Janine, remembers temperatures inside of -30C, even with insulation, internal and external shutters. One of the current bedrooms was the furnace room and the whole of our current cellar and laundry was the coal store. Although no longer owned by the family, Janine still loves to stay in the chalet from time to time and enjoys the comforts of modern times.
