About the Chalet
Just 150m from the Savoy ski area, by Chamonix standards this is practically ski to the door and thus avoids carrying skis too far. The Savoy area at 'valley level' is ideal for beginners and children or even some sledging. The Savoy Button Lift also provides direct access to the 'Plan Praz' telecabin, that whisks you from near the valley floor at 1090m to circa 2000m in just a few minutes. This opens up access to the extensive Brevent and Flegere ski areas, ideal for beginners, intermediates, with great off piste and a few Black runs for the more ambitious.
Rue Joseph Vallot (named after the crazy Parisian Astronomer who built an observatory on Mont Blanc in 1890 at 4200m and even proposed the building of a tramway all the way to the top) is essentially the continuation of Chamonix's main street Rue du Doctor Picard, (named after one of the first men to climb Mont Blanc).
From Chalet Viso, turn right and its just 3 minute walk to the 'bollards' that mark the centre of Chamonix's traffic free centre.
Chalet Viso is a traditional Savoy Chalet that caters for up to fourteen guests. Since buying Chalet Viso over €200,000 has been invested updating the chalet for the comfort of our guests.
The ground floor comprises of the dining and lounge areas that feature predominantly brown leather sofas and dark woods with subtle lighting reminiscent of a chic boutique hotel. In 2009 a modern and chic Italian kitchen was installed which includes all the amenities that a self catering kitchen would require.
Seven guest bedrooms are located across the first and second floors and most can be presented as either a twin or super king. During 2010 the first floor bedrooms were updated to a luxury standard whilst on the second floor the bedrooms are comfortable with en-suite showers. Five of the bedrooms offer en-suite facilities while the other two are presented as a ‘family suite’. The Family suite includes a superking bedroom plus a twin that share a bathroom with a bath/shower and toilet. Most of the bedrooms feature large 'Super King' beds or the equivalent twin which guests tell us they appreciate, even if they reduce the open floor area. Travel cots are also available for babies.
The location is hard to beat, with the piste just 150m, that's practically ski to the door by Chamonix standards. Chamonix’s quaint town centre is just a three minute walk and has a multitude of restaurants, bars and shops, perfect for people who are not skiing. Great views surround Chalet Viso, with Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi, Les Dru to the east and the Aiguille Rouge to the west. Watching the moon set over the ridge of the Aiguille Rouge from our outdoor hot tub is truly spectacular.
Come and enjoy the chic Chalet Viso experience and its great location for an exceptional price.
Food is an important part of any skiing holiday and with the location of Chalet Viso guests are truly spoilt for choice. Chalet Viso is presented as self catering however there are a multitude of options where food is concerned. Whether you prefer to cook yourselves in Chalet Viso’s new chic Italian kitchen, grab a takeaway or dine in one of Chamonix’s Michelin stared restaurants, the choice is yours.
For breakfast enjoy freshly baked French bread, croissants and pain au chocolate each morning from the bakery opposite Chalet Viso, not to mention the beautiful indulgent cakes for after a hard day of skiing.
With Chamonix being a real all year around mountain town, it has a greater depth of restaurants than many purpose built ski areas that remain closed for most of the year. From typically French cuisine and local specialties to Japanese, Italian, Chinese and Indian, there really is so much choice of where to eat!
Should you wish to eat in the chalet but not cook then you can order meals from an outside catering service with an extensive menu, they can deliver your meals each day. There is also a well run deli opposite the chalet that has a choice of home made hot meals each day, these can be pre-ordered and collected before 9pm.
If you would rather have your own chef during your stay at Chalet Viso then this can be pre-arranged subject to availability.
