Chalet Description

Experience the unique alpine holiday experience of Chalet Tissières, which is set in a spectacular location at the foot of the Bossons glacier, in the heart of the Chamonix valley, enjoying Europe's most stunning mountain views, including its highest peak 'Mont Blanc'.

Chalet Tissières is a unique place, which started life as a traditional French Alpine farm. Built in 1552, this makes it one of the oldest chalets in the Valley. Recently it has been lovingly renovated and converted into what it is today, a beautiful traditional chalet, with attention paid to maintaining its original features whilst offering the modern luxuries you expect from your alpine holiday.

Chalet Tissières comfortably sleeps 16 people in winter and 22 in summer in 8 bedrooms. It is located in an ideal place within the valley 'Les Bossons', which enjoys tranquility away from the hustle and bustle, yet still benefiting from easy access to Chamonix town centre (less than 3 km away) as well as only being 1.5 km from the friendly town of les Houches. There is a bus stop within 50 metres distance from the chalet, which offers a regular free transport service into Chamonix town centre, as well as the rest of the Chamonix valley. Bossons train station is only 300 metres distance from the chalet, where you can take a train to St. Gervais, where the TGV gives you access to the rest of Europe.

We are very close to the major ski lifts. The famous Aguile de Midi is only 1.5 km away and le Brévent 3 km. Chalet Tissières is only a 3 minute walk to the bottom of Les Bossons Glacier Cable Car. In winter this takes you to the Bossons snowboard park, which is the night riding area of the Chamonix Valley.

We can guarantee your stay in the chalet will be an unforgettable one, allowing you to relax and unwind, whilst soaking up the wonderful glacial views of Mont-Blanc, in front of our huge open fire within our spacious open plan living area. At sunset the mountain peaks and glacial ice turn orange, a most spectacular view!

Your Typical Day will look something like this:

07.45 am	A delicious hearty breakfast will be served with a choice of fruit juices, coffee or tea.
08.30 am	We will take you to the resort lift of your choice (Le Tour, Argentière, le Brévent, l'Aiguille du Midi, la Flégère) Ski orientation can be provided two mornings of your holiday week.
16.00 pm	We will collect you from the agreed meeting point (i.e. where we dropped you off, or elsewhere) and you will be able to enjoy a warming drink of hot chocolate on the way home in the Ice & Orange bus.
	You will be welcomed back to the warm atmosphere of the chalet, with some hot drinks and nibbles served by the large log fire, which will be lit before you arrive.
	Have a nice hot shower or an ultimate chill out session in the outdoor hot tub, followed by some drinks from the honesty bar. Whilst soaking up the beautiful views of Mont-Blanc, you can relax and enjoy the chalet's entertainment facilities by the fire until dinner is served.
19.30 pm - 20.00 pm	A 3 to 4 course dinner will be served with fine wines, beer and soft drinks.
	After dinner relax in the cosy candlelit atmosphere of the chalet, reminiscing about the day's adventures and planning the next.
	For those of you who would like to continue your evening in the many pubs, bars and clubs that Chamonix and Les Houches have to offer, we will gladly run you into town.
	If you are returning home later than 11pm from either resort we will gladly arrange a taxi for you. (Prices are approx £15 / €24 for up to 8 people).

 

What happens on our day off? (typically Wednesday)

• Breakfast will be set for you the evening before, no staff will be present throughout breakfast on the Wednesday.

• You will receive a ski lift transfer in the morning only. The bus will leave the chalet at 9 am. If you miss it, you can always get the public Chamonix bus, which regularly departs just outside our chalet and is free of charge.

• We do not provide an afternoon ski lift transfer back to the chalet. As such we recommend that you ski at either Les Houches or Brevent (our two nearest ski areas).

So how do I get back to the chalet?

The public Chamonix ski bus departs from every ski area in the valley back to Chamonix town centre. Once in the town centre, you change buses and get on the bus going to either ‘Les Bossons’or ‘Les Houches.’ You get off at ‘Glacier des Bossons,’and our chalet is 20 metres down from the bus stop. The total journey takes approximately 20 minutes (due to the various stops). When departing from Les Houches take the bus to Cham and check it passes the ‘Glacier des Bossons’ stop.

• There will be tea, coffee, hot chocolate & nibbles when you get back to the chalet.

• We do not provide a lift into town on this evening, you can either take the public Chamonix bus, or we can arrange taxis for you. The cost of a taxi from the chalet into Chamonix town centre vice versa is approximately €25 for up to 8 people one way.

Food and dining 

We believe that excellent cuisine is an integral part of any holiday experience and naturally we set our standards high. You will find that a passion for both Continental, British and Global cuisine is reflected in our tasty menus with total emphasis placed on using only the freshest and whenever possible local ingredients.

Breakfast
Whether you have a strenuous or more relaxed mountain day planned, we understand that the right breakfast is key to getting you off to a great start. With this in mind our breakfasts offer a variety of European flavours, including fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants, pain chocolat and fresh warm bread with cheeses, meats and cereals of your choice.

In addition we also serve breakfast items such as pancakes, eggs & porridge on various days throughout the week.

Tea
You will be welcomed back from the mountain to the warm atmosphere of the chalet, with some hot drinks, along with some tasty nibbles.

Dinner
Dinner is the highlight of the evening, key to this is setting the right atmosphere. With the fire going and the candles glowing, relaxing music in the background and everyone with rosy cheeks fresh from their alpine day, dinner is served.

• *For those of you who want to party into the night, we are happy to run you into town after dinner up until 10pm. For your return home we are happy to arrange a taxi for you (Prices range from €25 - €50 for up to 8 people depending on the time of your return).

Additional services

• A quick and easy airport transfer service from Geneva airport directly to the chalet, which takes approx. 1 hour. At a competitive cost of £48/approx.€70,- per person return journey.
  
  

• We aim to provide an efficient airport transfer service. To help us do this please take note of the following. Pick up and drop off at Geneva airport will take place between 12 pm and 1pm.

  If your flight times are not around this time, then we advise you to contact www.a-t-s.net (approx. £50 return per person). This company provides transfers to and from Chamonix and you can book online with them.

  All individual and group ski lessons plus mountain guiding services arranged on your behalf, with door to door pick up and drop off.
  
  Full no hassle ski/snowboard rental service taking you to and from the ski shop, maximising your mountain time.
  
  Delicious packed lunches for your day on the mountain upon request.
  

• We can also arrange day trips to Courmayeur in Italy (30 minute drive) or even Verbier in Switzerland.

• We operate an honesty bar facility, giving you access to beers and soft drinks and we ask that you settle your 'tab' before departure.
