Property introduction

Lounge is a traditional catered alpine chalet for up to 18 guests, ideally situated for skiing and snowboarding in the middle of the Chamonix valley. It has a sauna, a big deck with a hot tub and stunning views. It also has ensuite bathrooms, a big open fire, cinema screen TV, stereo, high speed internet, videos and dvds. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and our food is exceptional.

Description

The chalet has two living areas, a big dining room downstairs with a lounge area beside the fire, and a separate tv lounge upstairs with lots of big couches, allowing plenty of room for everybody. There is a sauna and a hot tub on the deck to sink into and soak those tired muscles while admiring the sunset on the mountains.

After dinner you can watch a film from our large collection of dvds and videos (on the 42 inch cinema screen), or stretch out by the fire and have a quiet digestif from the bar. There is also a stereo you can plug your ipod into, a mac laptop for guests to use with high speed internet wifi access and an area where you can help yourself to tea and coffee.

Sleeping Space

Bedrooms

We have nine bedrooms in the chalet, each either double or twin making a total of 18 beds. Four rooms have en-suite showers and toilets and two more have showers in the rooms. The rooms all have 100% cotton linen and towels and the bathrooms all have hairdryers, hand towels and toiletries.

Gadgets

We have a continuous ADSL internet connection and a WiFi wireless network with a Mac for you to check your mail and surf the web. You can bring your laptop with you and keep in touch with the office if you are unable to escape fully from work. We have a large selection of dvds and videos and a stereo for you to play your cds or ipod on.

  Food

  We are dedicated foodies and always on the lookout for new ideas for interesting things to do with food. Our style is modern home cooking with inspiring flavours and combinations as opposed to nouvelle cuisine and the portions are generous.
  
  Sarah is an imaginative cook and spends most of her time in the kitchen (by choice!), preparing amazing gastronomic extravaganzas. From pot roasted lamb stuffed with garlic, rosemary and coriander seeds with roasted roots and braised leeks, to Toulouse sausages with celeriac and caper mash and caramelised red onions, to our weekly Savoyarde night, with all the delicious things you'd expect to be served in a traditional French mountain chalet - raclette, fondue, charcuterie and pommes vapeur, served with a more contemporary selection of salads and accompaniments, to offset all that delicious cheese - a fantastic combination.
  
  

  For dessert you will be served things like individual lemon souffles, or double chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce or sautéed banana fillo tarts with rum caramel sauce and crème fraiche... mmm...

  And then there's the cakes. Taught by her patisserie chef sister, Sallyann, Sarah bakes the most amazing cakes, slices and biscuits for your aprés-ski appetite. Anzac biscuits (an old favourite from her native New Zealand), sticky orange and almond cake, afghan biscuits and banana and walnut cake are just a few. Don't scoff too much though. You need to save room for dinner. And after all that you can retire to the couch where you can relax with a cup of tea or coffee and settle in for a movie, then bed and do it all again tomorrow.
  
  All eating idiosyncrasies are embraced - so just let us know when you book what your preferences are, or tell us if you have any allergies, intolerances or dislikes so we can arrange for the best possible eating experience for you. We won't make you eat Brussels sprouts if you can't stand them - instead we will endeavour to provide you with an irresistible alternative.
  
  

  Breakfast

  Cereals, fruit, orange juice, coffee or tea, fresh baguettes or croissants and a cooked breakfast too, if you like. A cheese and bacon omelette or pancakes with fruit coulis and Greek yoghurt or French toast with cinnamon, orange sauce and crème fraiche.

  Afternoon Tea

  Tea, coffee and cakes or biscuits.

  Dinner

  3 courses, starter and main course with wine, dessert and help yourself tea or coffee.

Arrival and departure

Rooms are ready after 4pm on the Sunday of your arrival and should be vacated before 10am on the Sunday of your departure.
