General
Chalet Icicle La Motte is a great rural retreat, sleeping up to 8 guests. In winter the chalet is only available as catered. In summer it is self catered.

Chalet Description
This stunning luxury villa style chalet is located in the Chamonix valley below Mont Blanc in the heart of the French Alps. Chalet Icicle is close to great sites for skiing, boarding, paragliding, ice climbing, trekking, snow shoeing and sightseeing. The chalet is open throughout the year, and is operated as a catered chalet in Winter where it is available to groups rather than by the room. In the Summer the rooms may be rented individually on a self catering basis.

Location: 15 minute drive to Chamonix, 10 minute drive from ski slopes, surrounded by fields, in a rural hamlet, walks and snow shoeing (in mid winter) from the front door.
Size: 4 bedrooms, which can sleep up to 8 people comfortably, 2 bathrooms.
Groups: In winter we only rent the chalet to groups, not by the room, and prices are based on our full occupancy of 8 people sharing.
Price: Winter half board package prices per person from £275 per week. Summer self catering prices are £100 per person per week.

Food: Breakfast, afternoon tea and 4 course dinner (for six of the seven nights) with flowing wine (Christmas dinner on 25 Dec). Great home cooking, with large portions of tasty favourites. See food page for our menus.
Hot Tub: seats up to six people, with great mountain views (see photo below). Great to relax in!
Welcome: champagne reception and welcome meeting to discuss conditions, and your plans.
Facilities: ski room & boot warmers, south facing terrace, DVD / video library, games selection.
Service: 24 hour concierge service to source babysitters, lift passes, kit, guides, etc.
Exclusions: Flights to Geneva, airport and valley transfers, lunches, kit hire, lift passes, activities insurance.

Car Rental: for transport flexibility, some wish to collect a hire car in Geneva airport.
Airport Transfers & daily shuttles: for £100 each extra (based on 8 people), you can have a personal airport transfer from Geneva airport to the chalet. During your stay there will be a daily private transfer to and from the chalet to Chamonix, to connect with the free buses to the ski area of your choice. At the end of your holiday you are driven back to Geneva.
Flights: we are the only chalet in Chamonix to have an ATOL licence, so we can book your flights from London, Manchester or Birmingham to Geneva from £80 return.
What sets us apart from others We give you the option of catered (half board) in winter or self catering in summer, so you can select what suits you best. The prices have been carefully set to offer real value. You are paying far less than you would in central Chamonix, yet have far more space and no noise! There are no ski to the door chalets in Chamonix, so why pay silly prices... Chalet garden & grounds
Do you think it strange that we start to describe the chalet from the outside first? You will understand when you arrive, as the chalet sits in its own field and orchard. In the summer months you can eat apples, cherries, and pears from the trees. If you are a trekker would like to walk through the meadows of Alpine flowers, then visit in June or early July to see the greatest range in bloom. We have some vines growing on the south side of the chalet, and in late summer the grapes are ready to eat.
Chalet covered terrace
Just picture yourself sitting on the terrace, drinking a cup of coffee, whilst being warmed by the morning sun. Not a bad view either! This huge covered terrace was one of the key reasons that we originally bought the chalet, and all our guests have really appreciated it too. In the summer months it is warm enough to eat your evening meal outside, whilst watching the last rays of sunset turn the mountains red, then pink and purple.
Chalet hot tub spa Another reason to focus on the outside of the chalet first, is the hot tub spa! This is available to all the guests during the winter, and is a great way to unwind after a hard day of skiing or boarding.
Chalet kitchen & retro style bathroom The kitchen is fully equipped with a hob, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle and coffee machine, as well as all the utensils. As you can see from the photos below, the kitchen has been built in the Alpine Country style, with pine units and granite coloured work surfaces. Please note that the kitchen is only available for those staying on a self catering basis, as for those on a catered (winter) stay, all the cooking is done for you! The first floor bathroom has been renovated to the retro style of the 1960s. The ground floor shower room has a basin, toilet and double shower. All your bedding and towels are provided in the price.
Upstairs living room area of chalet The dining room and living area are joined together through an arch, so you can use the large room as you wish. The floors are marble tiled, and two sets of French windows lead out onto the terrace. This room is the most popular for everyone staying to mingle and relax, and the views up to Aiguille du Midi at sunset are amazing. The room is comfortably furnished, and the living area has a TV, video, DVD player, stereo, and extensive video and DVD library, as well as a collection of books and magazines for reading.
Downstairs living room area of chalet This area has been designed to be modern and light, and a great place to chill out and chat in, if you want to avoid the noise of the stereo / TV in the upstairs living area.
Chalet dining area With views out across fields and into the valley, this area is popular both at mealtimes, and to relax and talk in after food. There are French windows opening out onto the terrace, so it is nicely lit and not a bad view either! For those staying on a half board bases at the chalet, all the meals are served at the table, and afternoon tea is laid out on the sideboard. If you choose to stay at the chalet on a self catering basis, then you will find the dining area just across the corridor from the kitchen, or if you are having a BBQ, then it is easy to access from the terrace.
Chalet bedrooms All the four bedrooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable, as you can see below. All have wood or tiled floors, and good storage facilities. As outlined in another section of our website, for all those staying on a half board basis we base all sleeping arrangements on two adults sharing, so we sleep up to 8 people. If you have a group of 9 or 10 people, the extra people get a 20% reduction of the advertised price, and we use the extra beds in the bedrooms. If you are staying on a self catering basis, each room is rented individually, and photos of each bedroom are on the Price and Availability pages. This is to enable you to choose the room that suits your needs the best.
Summer in Chalet Icicle During the summer months, we operate Chalet Icicle as self catering, and you can book either by the room, or the chalet as a whole. The Chamonix valley is as popular in summer, as during the winter, and this page outlines some of the most popular activities.

Your complete financial protection When you make a booking in the chalet, you are financially protected through our bonding with the Travel Trust Association (membership U3307) and ATOL (licence number T7228). We follow a strict financial code of practice, and all monies that you pay (by credit / debit card, cash, cheque, etc) are held in trust until after your stay. Furthermore all monies paid by you are fully insured.
