Ideal for families Les Houches has received the family award ‘FamillePlus’ for it’s unique facilities. Furthermore, ESF (Ecole Ski Francaise) in Les Houches is one of the best in France. You will be surprised by the services on offer from snow garden ‘learn to ski facilities’ for the little ones from age 3, to sit ski sessions and lessons for people with disabilities. The magic carpet provides another stepping stone for learning and snow board lessons are made possible here from the age of 8 years. You can also find chair lifts specially designed to carry small children safely, one less worry to think about. Safety is another great aspect of Les Houches which gives you that warm and comforting feeling with no large drops or cliffs and where avalanche risk is minimal.

For intermediate and advanced skiers there is plenty of territory to explore on piste and off piste, although you may not find all the off piste  without a guide or local knowledge. It’s fun skiing in Les Houches with bumps and narrow paths to navigate and there is even a snow park on the Bellevue side.

For further adventures search out the rustic mountain restaurants: Les Vieilles Luges and La Taniere, be warned though as the tracks to these restaurants are not for the faint hearted so nervous or beginner skiers should take heed. However, there are lots of other great mountain restaurants on offer with appeal to a variety of budgets from rustic restaurant food to self service or haute cuisine.

Non skiers will love the walking from the Prarion Gondola along the Nordique ski piste which meanders around the top of the resort with stunning views across the valley on both sides. The Prarion restaurant is accessible to everyone so meeting for lunch is made possible with a breathtaking panoramic view. Special rate lift tickets for non skiers can be purchased at the Prarion Kiosk
