Winter Sports Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance

Winter Sports holidays have become more and more popular over the last 10 years or so. You might be thinking of a trip and this might be the first time you have tried any sport such as Skiing or Snowboarding.

Due to higher risk of injury or the damage, theft or loss of your Sports Equipment, you should look at getting a comprehensive Winter Sports Travel Insurance policy.

Benefits of a Winter Sports policy

As this is a specific policy for Winter Sports, you will get some added benefits such as cover for Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance.

JS Travel Insurance policies can provide cover for most sports and activities and these include off piste skiing (with or without a Guide) as well as many more...

We can provide cover for loss or theft of hired Ski Equipment as well as loss of Ski Pass and reimbursement of Ski School fees.

If you have a Pre Existing Medical Condition, it is always important to declare this, as this might effect a claim in the future. If you fail to do this, you might find you have a large medical bill to pay when you get home.

 Safety Advice

With the cold and sometimes difficult conditions, there are some basic safety information you should take into account.

  • Dress in warm clothing. You should wear more than on layer of clothing and always wear a hat and gloves. It might be a good idea to purchase some thermal clothing as this keeps the heat in.
  • Protect your eyes. You should use either sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the sun and any branches or stones that you might encounter whilst skiing.
  • Follow good Piste etiquette. You should always give way to those who are in front or below you. This will avoid any potential accidents or injuries to your self or other skiers.
  • Know your limits. You may be an experienced skier or snowboarder, but you should try to be on or off piste with a friend and always know when it is time for a break.

It is important to purchase the policy before you leave the country.

Important Note:

You are required at all times to wear the appropriate safety equipment, for example protective clothing and / or suitable head protection.
